David Hernández de la Fuente is Professor of Greek Philology at the Complutense University of Madrid. He specializes in Cultural History of Antiquity and his main research lines are Religion and Greek Mythology (especially Oracles, Dionysus and Pythagoreanism), Late Antique Greek and Early Byzantine Literature (Nonnus, Nonnian School), Classical Tradition and History of Platonism (Laws and Neoplatonism). Before joining the Department of Classics at Complutense University, he has been researcher and instructor in Madrid at the Carlos III University, Saint Louis University and National Distance Education Universities and in Brandenburg, at the University of Potsdam. He has received research distinctions, such as the “Fundación Pastor” Award for Classical Studies (2005), the Humboldt-Forschungsstipendium (2009), the Burgen Scholarship Award from the Academia Europaea (2014). He is the author of several books on Classics, such as "El despertar del alma.
